Like all industries, HVAC and refrigeration continue to evolve as technology finds new and better ways to enhance standard operating procedures. Testo is making an effort to be at the forefront of this revolution, with a new range of instruments taking our digital focus and adding more functionality such as smartphone connectivity.

But what about the rest of the industry? That will continue to develop as well, with the help of a conference held by the Australian Institute of Refrigeration, Air Conditioning and Heating (AIRAH) that is set to focus specifically on what industry professionals can expect from the future.

Research and Development expected for HVAC industry

For HVAC professionals, the upcoming Future of HVAC 2015 conference will offer an insight into how the industry is expected to evolve over the coming years. The event is the third in the series, and will be led by keynote speeches from important figures in the industry.

According to AIRAH CEO Phil Wilkinson, the conference will focus on the newest technology initiatives the industry can prepare for in the coming years and now these will impact on building design and construction.

There will be a sustained focus on green building initiatives at this year’s event, with AIRAH Member Graham Carter sharing his expertise on cool roofs, including the design traits an efficient roof should possess.

“The dialogue in our industry around green, cool and energy-generating roofs has been elevated in recent years,” he said.

“Yet, there are significant shortfalls in our industry knowledge and tools to fully understand how different roof types affect mechanical system performance.”

HVAC embraces smart technology

Smartphones are no longer a distraction in the workplace, with their increased processing power now able to be used for added convenience. These trends were recognised by HPAC Engineering, which included this trend in its list of things to watch out for within the HVAC industry in 2015.

According to the organisation, the demand for smarter devices is borne out of efficiency, as these devices can now help other instruments keep air conditioning systems operating at optimum levels.

Of course, Testo prides itself on being up-to-date with these trends. For this reason, the brand new Testo 550 can communicate with Testo’s app on your smartphone, resulting in more accurate measuring processes.

This makes it significantly easier to document readings as well, allowing you to review them at a later date if they need to be compared with other figures.
